General FAQs

Why can't I renew my driver's licence online?

Driver's licence renewals for Saskatchewan licences require a new photo, which is something that cannot be done online. Drivers who have chosen the annual payment option for their licence, however, are able to make those payments through MySGI.

Why do I have to provide my email address in person or over the phone before signing up for MySGI?

This is an extra security measure for customers who don’t currently have an SGI CANADA insurance policy number. You may have previously provided your email address, driver’s license number and birth date to multiple organizations over the years so it’s important for us to verify who you are before granting access to your personal information. Current SGI CANADA customers may self-register their email address online as they are required to provide their current policy number - a more secure piece of information - during the MySGI sign-up process.

How do I change my preferred method of communication with SGI?

By default, correspondence from SGI will be sent by standard mail. If you wish to receive correspondence by email, you can change your preferred method of communication by selecting Change my preferred method of correspondence with SGI from the My Preferences menu.

When required by legislation, you may receive some SGI correspondence by mail in addition to the email notifications you have requested.

To protect the privacy of your sensitive information, some emails will contain limited information and ask you to view further details after logging into MySGI.

If you wish to stop receiving correspondence through email, you can revert back to standard mail in My Preferences at any time.

Regardless of your communication preferences, we will continue to send email confirmation for any transactions completed through MySGI.

How do I change the customer I am completing transactions for?

When you sign in to MySGI, you will always do so as yourself. If you have multiple customers attached to your profile (i.e.: you’re part of a group customer or are authorized to complete transactions on behalf of a company) you will see a Change Customer button below the navigation menu to the right of the shopping cart. You may use this button at any time to choose which individual customer you wish to complete a transaction for. Please remember to complete any transactions in your shopping cart before changing customers. Pending transactions will not be saved if they have not been processed prior to changing customers.

How do I register my company for MySGI?

Companies do not create a MySGI account in the same manner as individual customers. The company’s MySGI account can be accessed by Administrator(s) or Authorized User(s) which are added to the company’s profile. At least 1 administrator must be identified, and any individuals acting as an Administrator or Authorized User would have to be registered with an active MySGI account themselves. Lastly, the company must have a valid email address added to their SGI profile.

Back to questions

How do I add an administrator to my company profile?

To have an administrator added to your company profile, you must present a letter on the company’s letterhead, which includes the name(s) and Customer Number(s) of the individual(s) to be added as administrator(s). It must be signed by a person with signing authority for the company, identify that individual’s title, and must state that the individual(s) listed are to be assigned as administrator(s) for MySGI purposes. Either the person who signed the letter or the individual authorized to be the administrator must be present at a motor licence issuing office to have the administrator(s) added, and must present photo identification to confirm their identity. Both an email address and an Administrator must be added to the company profile with SGI in order to access the company MySGI account.

How do I add or remove users who are authorized to complete licensing or registration transactions on behalf of my company?

Company customers may be given access to MySGI on a company’s behalf as either an Administrator or an Authorized User. Authorized Users must already have their own personal MySGI account and can only be added or removed by an Administrator, though this can be completed online. Administrators must have signing authority for the company they represent and can only be added or removed through an in-person visit to a motor licence issuer.

Add an Authorized User to your company profile:

  1. Sign in to your MySGI company profile. Select Maintain Authorized User List from the MySGI Business menu.
  2. Under the Authorized Users section, select Edit.
  3. Enter the last name and Customer Number of the individual you are adding to the company profile.
  4. Check the box indicating you accept the risk associated with adding this Authorized User.
  5. Select the Save link.

A message will confirm that the authorized user has been added to the company profile.

Remove an authorized user from your company profile:

  1. Sign in to your MySGI company profile.
  2. Select Maintain Authorized User List from the My SGI Business menu.
  3. Under the Authorized Users section, select Edit.
  4. Select the Remove User button beside the name of the individual you want to remove.
  5. Select OK to confirm you want to remove this user.
  6. An updated list of Authorized Users will confirm that the individual selected was removed.

Individuals authorized to access the company profile on behalf of the company as Administrator or Authorized User may view sensitive or confidential information related to the company. The company is solely responsible for maintaining and updating the list of permitted users. SGI is not responsible for, nor shall SGI be liable for any damages arising out of any transaction completed in MySGI on behalf of the company. When an individual is added as an Authorized User, the Administrator must confirm they understand the risks associated with allowing that individual to complete transactions on behalf of the company.
