The amount owing for my SGI CANADA policy renewal isn't right. What do I do?

What’s the difference between SGI and SGI CANADA? Isn't it all just 1 company?

SGI is a large insurance company that is split in to 2 sections: the Saskatchewan Auto Fund (sometimes called the Auto Fund for short) and SGI CANADA. SGI CANADA refers to home, business or auto extension insurance you can purchase should you wish to do so. This insurance is also available through many other insurance providers.

The Saskatchewan Auto Fund refers to the compulsory auto insurance program in Saskatchewan that handles driver licensing and vehicle registration. This includes things like driver's licenses, driver abstracts, basic plate insurance, driver testing and medicals, and so on.

I need to update the address on my SGI CANADA policy. If I update my address in MySGI, will my SGI CANADA policy be automatically updated as well?

Updating your address on MySGI will ensure that all correspondence concerning SGI driver's licence and vehicle registration (drivers license and vehicle plate reminders, safe driver point summaries, appeal decisions, claim updates, etc.) is sent to the right address. While the address on your SGI CANADA policy won’t change automatically, we will forward any address change requests made on MySGI to your broker. Your broker will then either go ahead and update your information or contact you if there are things that they need to review with you - sometimes a change in address, moving to an older or newer house, etc. can impact your insurance rate.

Once a broker has received and processed the address change request, your SGI CANADA correspondence will start to be sent to the updated address.

Remember that you can always contact your broker directly if you want to update your policy information. List our brokers, or view your broker's contact information on the View my SGI Business page under the My SGI Business tab.

Will I get email messages from my broker through MySGI?

No, your broker will send you emails directly.

If I unsubscribe from SGI correspondence on MySGI, will I continue to get correspondence from my broker?

Yes, your broker will continue to send you correspondence (emails and letters) unless you notify them directly.

I would like to select a different issuer. How can I do this?

Find a different issuer, navigate to the My Preferences icon and select Change my selected issuer, where you can review and edit your selected issuer.

What's the difference between a broker and SGI CANADA? Aren't they the same?

SGI CANADA develops the insurance products but does not sell them directly to the public. Brokers sell the insurance on behalf of SGI CANADA and other insurance companies. The broker can offer the customer expert guidance and information so that they can make informed decisions about what insurance they will purchase.

Can I see every policy I've ever had with SGI CANADA on MySGI?

MySGI will show all active SGI CANADA policies. Contact your broker if you would like to see a breakdown of previously expired or cancelled policies.

Can I see a more detailed breakdown of my policy on MySGI?

Of course! Simply click on the View Policy Details link under the SGI CANADA Policy Information section of My SGI Business. This page provides you with an overview of the policy’s term, premium, policyholders, and more. You can even view, save, and print a PDF copy of your SGI CANADA policy cover page, which gives you an in depth breakdown of your policy coverages, limits, and so on.

Can I make a policy payment online?

Yes you can. When viewing your policies under the View My Business page select on the Pay Policy link and follow the instructions to pay for your policy. You can also view and pay for any upcoming policy payments under the Notification Centre section of the Home page.

How can I get a quote for vehicle or property insurance online?

Getting an online quote is easy!

For a vehicle insurance quote:

From your MySGI Home page, select the My Vehicles icon. Under Products and Services, select Get an auto quote.

For a property insurance quote:

From your MySGI homepage, select on the My Policy icon. Under Products and Services,  select Get a home quote.

Can I buy a policy through MySGI?

SGI CANADA auto extension, condo and tenant policies can be purchased online through eQuote. At this time, SGI CANADA home policies cannot be purchased online, however you can get a home insurance quote on eQuote, which can be forwarded to the broker of your choosing to finalize.

Can I change my banking information for my SGI CANADA policies online?

Currently, updating your banking information requires an in-person visit to your broker so they can verify your identity and banking information. Search a list of our brokers, or view your broker's contact information on the View my SGI Business page under the My SGI Business tab.

Can I see my commercial (business-related) insurance policies on MySGI?

For now you can see all of your personal SGI CANADA policies on MySGI. If you have questions or want information on your commercial SGI CANADA policy, please contact your broker and they can assist you.

I paid for my policy through my broker but MySGI still shows it as owing. Why is that?

Chances are your broker collects a payment directly from you and then forwards that payment on to SGI, which doesn’t happen instantly. Once SGI receives the payment from the broker and processes it, your MySGI account will be updated and the owing status will disappear.

Can I see a more detailed breakdown of my claims on MySGI?

Yes, MySGI will show all in-progress claims and 5 years of claims history for personal property and auto. Simply select the link for the claim you want to view under the My Claims - In-Progress Claims or My Claims - Claims History sections. These links can be found on the My SGI Business page or by selectingn the View My Claims link on the My Claims page.
